Amyris is a genus of flowering plants in the citrus family, Rutaceae. The generic name is derived from the Greek word aµ???? (amyron), which means "intensely scented" and refers to the strong odor of the resin. It has many medicinal benefits. It known as West Indian Sandalwood or Indies Sandalwood, Amyris essential oil originates from the West Indies, specifically in Haiti. The soft aroma is reminiscent of resin oils like benzoin and it is often used as a perfume 'fixative' to extend the fragrant life of a blend.
