Description :
Anise is also called Chinese star anise (Illicium verum), which is widely used in Asian countries and used to make the drug Tamiflu. Today, many pharmaceuticals seek to take advantage of anise's benefits by adding the herb to certain drugs, like cough syrup and throat medications. Star anise comes from Illicium verum , a type of evergreen tree native to certain parts of Vietnam and China. The tree produces a fruit known as star anise that is used as a spice to add flavor to a variety of dishes. The fruit is picked before ripening and then dried in the sun to allow it to harden. It is characterized by its distinct star shape, reddish-orange color and strong aroma.


Constituents :
Anethol (present to about 90 per cent), fixed oil, sugar, choline and mucilage,Anethole.

taken in low dosages, it helps clear motions and cures constipation, resultant flatulence, and indigestion.
