Description :
Eucalyptus citriodora, commonly called lemon-scented gum is native to Australia. It is a tall, slender, broadleaf evergreen tree that will grow 60-100’ tall in its native habitat. The essential oil of the lemon-scented gum mainly consists of citronellal (80%), produced largely in Brazil and China. Unrefined oil from the lemon eucalyptus tree is used in perfumery, and a refined form of this oil is used in insect repellents, especially against mosquitoes.

Constituents :
It has major constituents like citronellal (63.6%), a-citronellol (7.3%), isopulegol isomers (6.5%), citronellyl acetate (2.6%), p-cymene (2.5%), citronellal dimmers (2.5%), a-pinene (2.1%) and ß-caryophyllene (1.2%).

Uses :
Add around 30 drops of lemon eucalyptus oil to your mixing container, followed by one teaspoon of vanilla extract, and 4 ounces of witch hazel (you can also use rubbing alcohol, vodka, or cooking oil). Mix it all up and pour it into a spray bottle, and your homemade mosquito spray is ready. Lemon eucalyptus oil is used for preventing mosquito and deer tick bites; for treating muscle spasms, toenail fungus (onychomycosis), and osteoarthritis and other joint pain. It is also an ingredient in chest rubs used to relieve congestion.

Benefit :
It is a good air purifier, deodoriser and can assist in insect repellents, known antiseptic, (also combine with Lemon Tea Tree for bugs in the air), sedating.
